• Fellowship of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO), Paris, France. 
• Member of the Deutsche Ophthalmologische Gesellschaft (German Ophthalmic Society) 
• Member of the European Glaucoma Society (EGS) 
• Examiner for the European Board of Ophthalmology since 2018. 

Professional Background

After completing his main clinical training in Germany at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf, Dr. Haj Ismail's work experience includes: 

• Consultant Ophthalmologist in SRH Central Hospital, a tertiary hospital serving the southern region in Thüringen State, Germany (2020 – 2023).  

He is also a member of the German Red Cross and highly interested in worldwide eye blindness prevention charity work.

• Diagnosis and management of medical retinal conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, retinal degenerations and dystrophies and retinal genetic disorders.
